I was getting that error message whilst trying to extend my ea access subscription.  After about 5hrs of calls with ea and microsoft a tech from xbox support confirmed that you have to allow the ea subscription run down before calculation a new one. This policy was introduced by ea a couple of months ago.

If you lot get this message stop immediately! I got the message trying to renew my gold that expired in a couple weeks and if I purchased now I got it off 33%. I received "Something went wrong our end. Effort once again later on." I did so and got the same bulletin. I contacted back up they tried to help and attempted to renew it them selves and got the same message. The next twenty-four hour period my bank called and Micrsoft had taken nigh $320 out of my banking concern business relationship! Weeks afterwards after telling me a refund would be given within 24-72 hours i am nonetheless dealing with Microsoft about getting my money refunded and my xbox alive is expiring in a few days...they will tell you they are doing an investigation. At that place should be no investigation most refunding money to people when the bulletin and employees told you to endeavour again...
